Nature's Response Time

Once upon a time, a rainy day in Chennai ....
(for those localites who have forgotten what it is...please go to flashback. Try remembering the times when we used to sing " Rain Rain go away..Come again another day"..Yes the same rain coming now)

Who goes prepared in this hot city of mine. ? Everything in life happens suddenly and unexpectedly. So does the rain in Chennai.I didnt have an umbrella or a rain coat. Luckily I found a tree nearby. I stood under the tree for shelter. It was a large tree to support two more people. And I was peacefully protected from getting drenched. But not for long. I found after sometime myself wet . Drops of water falling over me without hurting more often than it was.

But it seemed that it was only drizzling outside. Junta used to say " Muzhusaa
nananja piragu mukkadhu edhukku "..meaning 'after getting drenched completely what is the point in hiding away from the rain'. So I started walking on my way...towards my destination.. I realised as soon as I came out that of the tree that it was not all raining outside. Being a small boy (ob it didnt happen recently..so many rare events ..all together)..I was wondering how the tree protected me when it was raining and how it deceived me even after the rain had stopped.

I was able to realise when I was doing my 2nd semester..EC 101 course
that Inductors exactly behaved like the tree...just like it continues its previous state ..as in the case of inertia. The inductor does not allow current suddenly through it meanwhile it stores(or cult) some amount of energy and it gives it back when needed.in anology to the tree taking on the drops on itself...n saving me from rain but pouring out when the rain stopped ....

Now my project for this summer is.... don't feel to much........to calculate the value of so called Inductance for a tree and its response time....lol :P

hello,
welcome aboard to the world of blogging :)

u made quite an interesting entry, and yes with talking about rains and trees, both seem to be quite scarce now.

very interesting theory,, but bad luck no ignobels this year :(

Have fun & keep blogging :)

Wel come !!

to the world of bloggers!!

Nice entry :)

Inductors and trees... nice analogy. did you start working towards measuring the inductance of the tree ?
:P

Thanks for welcoming me frnds....

@Feynman... How will I remember something that happened a LOOO....NG time ago exactly ?...lol..:)

@ Ramya... Shall we submit a thesis on it together ??? ..:P

Good start :-)
Keep blogging :-D

P.S: The inductance of a tree varies very irregularly w.r.t time. So, if I were you, I would not even try measuring it... But, this is what separates Faradays and Teslas from the others... Kudos! :-D

dont take my suggestion tooooo seriously...

keep blogging

anyway as student of physics (hmmm..and when was this i wonder)
i'll ask what approximations are u making in ur calculations, what accuracy can u expect??
